Details of ACTIVITIES / EVENTS
Note: Mechanics of the events are subject to revision and adjustments depending on number of participants.
2-Ball Competition
There are 2 members per team. They will shoot alternately at various spots on the court within a certain period of time. These spots have different point-allotments, depending on the distance and relative difficulty. The pair with the most number of points wins. There are two divisions, the Students Division and the Parent-Child Division.
For the Students Division, the participants cannot be both varsity members. For the Parent-Child Division, other immediate family members (brothers or sisters) may take the place of the parents. Immediate siblings who are not Everest students are allowed to participate. However, one of the participants must still be an Everest student. A student can join both divisions.
Skills Challenge
This is an individual and timed event. The participant goes through an obstacle course-type of various basketball skills, such as dribbling, shooting and lay-ups. The fastest participant wins.
Last Man Standing Free Throw
All the participants will form one line, then will be given 5 seconds to convert on the free throw shot. For as long as he/she makes the free throw, the player stays in the game. If the player misses the shot, he/she is eliminated. This goes on several rounds until a winner is determined (the distance of the free throw line may be adjusted, depending on the number of participants).
Slam Dunk Contest
This is a fun side-event for the creative kids. The goal will be lowered to suit the abilities of the participants. A smaller basketball may also be utilized. Actual height and details will be announced.
Half Court Trick Shot
Participants will shoot and convert from the patio's half court line. The participant will be allowed a running start from the back court, but must have already released the ball and still land not beyond the half line. He/she has the option of shooting at any angle, for as long as the actual attempt is completely executed within the half court line.
3-point Shootout
Each participant must convert on as many attempts as possible. The shots will be taken from different angles and within a specific period of time. This is generally a team competition (by pairs). However, the top individual scorers will likewise be recorded and declared individual winners. For the Students Division, a team cannot have both members who are current varsity.
Streak Shooter "Hall of Fame"
Junior participants will shoot at a Junior-Size Ring and attempt to convert as many consecutive shots as possible. Scores will be recorded and Top 3 Junior Players will be declared winners. All other Junior Players who shoot at least 3 consecutive shots will be included in the Hall of Fame list to be posted on this website and Facebook Page.
"Splash Shot" Soaking Booth
Take a shot at the basket and if you convert, the ball going through the hoop will trigger a bucket of water to be dumped on our volunteer. Remember to bring a change of clothes if you also want to volunteer and get soaked.

FAQS
Is there a registration fee for the activities / events?
All activities / events are free of charge.
Why is there pre-registration?
Pre-registration will guarantee your participation in at least one event. Event day walk-ins are not guaranteed event participation because of set event schedule and time constraints.
Can I join all the events?
You can signify your intention to join all the events (see Reply Section below) but due to event slot availability and time constraints, we do not guarantee that you will be able to participate in all the events. The main intention is for everyone to have an opportunity to participate. Please indicate your Top Two preferred events so organisers can prioritize your entry in these preferred events.
Are there prizes?
Event winners will be given medals.
If I have a Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 child, will she be able to compete against the older children?
The younger children will have their own division with own set of winners. These events are the Slam Dunk Competition, Streak Shooter Event and Long-Distance Shootout Event. A Mini-Goal and Size 3 Ball (regular is Size 7) will be used for these events.
I am not a basketball player. Will I be competitive in any of the activities?
Some activities are what we call "equalizers" where a combination of skill, determination and a bit of luck will play a factor. As long as you can hold and throw a basketball, you will be able to compete. We recommend the Free Throw - Last Man Standing and / or the Half Court Trick Shot.
I am not into basketball. Will I still enjoy the event?
We will have a "Splash Shot" soaking booth. If you shoot a basketball through the basketball ring, it will trigger a bucket of water to tip and soak our volunteers. You can volunteer to get soaked and that will be much fun. And if it will be a hot day, refreshing as well. If you like ice cream, there will be a free ice cream booth (while supplies last).
We believe your child will enjoy the event so you will enjoy as well. "For the Love of the Game...For the Love of our Children"
Will there be a lot of physical activity? I am not exactly fit.
The events require some form of physical activity. But even with a bad knee, participants can compete in the Free Throw Shooting activity and Half Court Trick Shot. Running around and enjoying with your children will require more physical activity. Avoid the free ice cream and hotdogs.
Will food and drinks be served?
"Bistro 3846" (school cafe) will provide food and drinks. Lunch will also be served. Rates are friendly. Food is excellent. Every Everest Academy student will confirm this.
Sponsors will set up booths to sample their products. There will be free chocolate drinks, hotdogs and ice cream for kids and kids-at-heart (while supplies last).
